Bonnie Crombie’s Liberals are “All for Tolls”
Pickering, February 5, 2025 — Today, Doug Ford, leader of the Ontario PCs, announced that a re-elected PC government will go one step further to lower costs for Ontario drivers by removing tolls from Highway 407 East, making the gas tax cut permanent, and banning so-called congestion charges on Ontario roads and highways.
While Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs are putting more money back into people’s pockets, Bonnie Crombie and the Liberals continue to back policies that will make life more expensive for Ontario families.
Across the province, Liberal candidates have made it very clear that they would raise costs for drivers.
Mary Margaret McMahon, the Liberal candidate for Beaches-East York, has said she is “all for tolls.”
In Eglinton-Lawrence, Vince Gasparro claimed that “tolls are needed.”
In Spadina-Fort York, Liberal candidate April Engelberg said she is “open to a congestion fee”.
John Campbell, the Liberal candidate in Etobicoke Centre, wondered why drivers are getting a “free ride” and said it is time to “bring on the road tolls.”
Stephen Blais, Liberal candidate for Orléans, thought it was a good idea for non-Ottawa residents to be charged a toll when driving on Highway 174.
Bonnie Crombie herself has never shied away from a toll; she just expenses them to taxpayers.
The consensus among Bonnie Crombie’s Liberals is clear: they are “all for tolls” and congestion charges that will make life more expensive for Ontario drivers.
Only Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs will put more money back into the pockets of Ontario families.
