Mark Carney will stand up to President Trump and build Canada strong
Montreal, QC – This election comes at a time of crisis. With President Trump continuing to threaten our sovereignty, we need a Prime Minister who can stand up to the President and build a strong Canadian economy.
“We need to have a plan – a plan to build a strong economy here in Canada,” said Mark Carney, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada during tonight’s debate. “We have to act with overwhelming force.”
Over the course of the debate, Mr. Carney announced his plan to protect the French language in Canada, by increasing the francophone immigration targets outside Quebec from 10% to 12%, and strengthening CBC/Radio-Canada. He highlighted the measures he has brought forward to stand up to President Trump’s unjust tariffs, including by boosting the competitiveness of our industries, like auto manufacturing and aluminum. He reiterated his plan to protect Canada’s energy security, diversify our trade, and enhance our long-term competitiveness – all while reducing emissions. And he outlined his plan to make life more affordable, most notably with a middle-class tax cut and the most ambitious housing plan since the Second World War.
“We must double the speed of housing construction here in Canada – that is fundamental,” added Mr. Carney. “And we must tighten and promote our cultural institutions in Canada.”
Canadians need real leadership in this time of crisis, but Pierre Poilievre won’t show it. He’s been following President Trump’s playbook for years, repeating empty slogans, and is pushing divisive cuts to the services Canadian families rely on. In the most consequential election of our lifetime, Pierre Poilievre is the wrong choice at the wrong time.
A Mark Carney-led government will stand strong against President Trump’s tariffs, create new jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, and build the fastest growing economy in the G7. Liberals will build Canada strong.
